Climate change problems and solution

The procedure of the global warming is very harmful for the human beings, because the problem of could destroy the earth, and make it warmer. Unfortunately, it was only man to blame for this phenomenon because he increases the effectiveness of climate change by increasing the harmful gases in the atmosphere (http://en.wikipedia.org/Wiki/Global_warming,p.1,line 1 and 2).

There are many influences and factors related to climate change, e.g. there are people driving cars which are the most important producers of the gases; and also another problem is that global warming has reached a ceiling and cannot increase the rate as it is and this is the turning point that we must identify and then overcome, and solve this issue. (http://boards.virginmedia.com/digital/soundbites/carbontargets.html? Page=12. P.4.).

Although there are many problems caused by the global warming, we can stop this problem. Nowadays many people are concerned about this issue and are trying to live in a healthy environment. The people who are environmental friendly like to use many things to reduce the carbon footprint; first in their life they use less carbon footprint than the others. Secondly, one more thing that you can do to avoid the global warming is using electric cars which do not emit Co2. (http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/07/17-electric-cars-overview-2005-to-2008 second paragraph.).php) rather than the old ones which increase the carbon emissions. Secondly, why don’t we build more and more of the cool cities? These have a lack of carbon footprint and emissions, compared with the normal cities: the ordinary one uses carbon more than the cool cities by nearly 35%; this percentage can kill a lot of animals, plants, and humans. Last step; let us advertise in the media about the risk of cutting down the trees, because the trees make a balance between oxygen and Co2.

The global warming isn’t simple and most people aren’t concerned about it . I think one way to help people develop the environment is by the campaigns that tell the people to worry more about cutting trees.

cool cities

All over the world, communities are taking action to help solve global warming. From hybrid vehicles, green buildings, and homes powered with renewable energy to what we eat, all lead to a healthy environment which has fewer carbon emissions. We need to reduce CO2 emissions by 50%.

Japan is a developed and competitive country of the industrialized and developed world. In Japan, over the last 30 years GDP has gone up 100% but energy efficiency has increased 37%, oil consumption has fallen 8%. 90% of carbon emissions come from buildings and transportation. The cool city is the city which is very friendly to the environment with fewer carbon emissions. It is being built by SDCJ, a group of Japanese companies.

The environmental cities are using three types of transportation which are hybrid cars, water taxis, and light rail transit.

There are 3 main zones in cool cities, which are: Business, Cultural, and Residential.

It uses techniques which help to reduce the heating e.g. tree-planting, waterways, and rooftop membranes.

The percentage of expected CO2 reductions for eco-towers is 50% & for eco-residences 30%.

Overall reduction of CO2 emissions is expected to be 60%.

How practical/ realistic is the video?

It is a very good and successful project, because it is all concerned about how to keep the environment protected , but it will need a lot of planning, organizing, and controlling, and all of it will take a long time to be prepared well. In addition it will lead to changes in the life styles, and in the transportation system

Ways to reduce the problems of the environment

Summary:
More than twenty countries in the European Union planned to reduce the rate of consumption of carbon dioxide, because it could lead to serious consequences for them, by replacing it with alternative energy. It is a big problem with a higher risk because the renewable sources are expensive. European countries plan that most power plants have to have carbon capture and control technology after 2010; they did not rely on this resolution, but also wanted to eliminate this problem from its roots; they also want the auto factories to replace cars that produce gases, with the ones which are electrical, as fast as they can. The British Environment minister said it would affect the petrol industry.

Main idea:
The co-operation between countries may lead to success and achieve goals.
Decisions should include planning, organizing, controlling.

Comments:
I think that some people will refuse to purchase the products and services that have a better environmental footprint. I think that the Europeans can solve the problem even though it is very difficult and contains many steps and a lot of process. Even countries which aren't actively trying to reduce their impact on the world's environment are likely to find such technology attractive and the EU is now poised to be a world leader in that kind of technology.

Carbon foot print

Yesterday we were talking about carbon footprint in which was this website http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/. In addition I calculated my carbon footprint which was approximately 2.28. Also I took the student standard and the average was nearly 3.87. There are many factors that reached me to this level which were classified as: travel, home, stuff. We can say that the carbon foot print is the total set of GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions caused directly and indirectly by an individual, organization, event or product. The largest contributor to my carbon footprint is traveling. Because of the lack of transportation in Abu Dhabi where I live, I usually travel in two main private cars; one of them is a saloon and the other one is a four wheel drive. so I can’t substitute my cars with buses or trains, because it is impossible because of two reasons; the first is that the bus is too public and I don’t get used to it plus the bus is slower and stops a lot, and the second is that we suffer from the lack of the variety of transportation. About traveling, I’m flying from Abu Dhabi to any country in Europe or sometimes to Australia in the summer with my family. Finally about the food, I’m on strict diet; in this part I can’t improve it because it helps to decrease the footprint. I also have a jog at the Corniche once every day.

Some reviews about the film

There are many reviews about the Inconvenient Truth movie, and most of the audience agreed and the rest didn’t agree. Now I will list roughly two persons, named Eric(http://www.threemoviebuffs.com/review.php?movieID=inconvenienttruth#Eric), and DaveCalhoun(http://www.timeout.com/film/review/8369/An_Inconvenient_Truth.html)

Eric talked about the film saying it wavered from morality to the policy and administration of George Bush, and he said that the pictures didn’t fit, because they could have been taken at different times and mostly took a long time; moreover he admitted that the movie shows a lot of the story and the family tragedy of Al Gore, rather than the global warming, whereas Dave said that this phenomenon is realized and everyone knows about it, so everyone must do something about it. In the whole review he noticed that the speech of Al Gore is very convenient and it made him very handsome, so he agrees with Al Gore, in opposition to Eric who didn’t like the film because of the changes in it; in addition he said that Al Gore talked mostly about global warming which was very easy and clear. To sum up, I liked the film, because if we do nothing, in about 10 years the planet may reach a high risk point and when the point has been reached it will be too late for any action; moreover the earth will have a lot of problems instead of global warming.

In my opinion what Eric has said, that the presenter talked about his family a lot and his sister’s death, I don’t agree with him, but Dave I do because he said that the film is very clear and aimed at one topic which is global warming. Finally, Global Warming is real, and it is caused by human activity. Mankind must begin immediate action to stop and reverse it, because it is certainly a moral issue.

Summary 2: wanted: natural residents.

The people wanted to make Sweden’s Western Harbor to be perfect, by providing what children need. When you want to see outside you will find so many kinds of birds and also bats, and insects. The Western Harbor is designed to comfort the people, and make them satisfied. This is very spacious and contains more than 1000 apartments. Every developer must choose 10 out of 35 green options, to promote sustainability and biodiversity. The food is mostly organic and the young people must know how to preserve and save their own food. the developers are staring the importance of green criteria in their marketing, which is very encouraging.
1. The scheme of the Western Harbor is being adopted by Malmo in its city-wide environmental building programm.
2. It's very important that the children grow up understanding ecology and wanting to save the earth.
3. The developer chooses between 10 green features.
Opinion:
1. I think Malmo also wanted ecological themes to develop and it has also adopted the green points.
2. The harbor is the most beautiful place to visit with your family because of the sustainable facilities that it has.
3. The harbor project is a huge step that has been done. It is being extended throughout Malmo.

Global warming (summarizing the movie)

An Inconvenient Truth focuses on Al Gore and his travels in support of his efforts to educate the public about the severity of the climate crisis. The sun heats the earth and then the earth reflects the radiation, but some of the radiation heats the earth, and makes the global warming. The cartoon shows that the ice cream melted because of the global warming because the sun beam heats the earth. There are lakes, rivers, mountains, and trading centers which suffer from global warming. Such as Lake Chad and, Kilimanjaro Mountain, the Manhattan local trading center, Colorado River. The higher population the country has, the more demand for food, and water. The smoking habit and cars ; emissions lead to the global warming. Japan, which is producing more environmentally friendly cars, is doing better selling cares than U.S. manufacturers. The global warming is not suitable for animals such as polar bears, penguins, and some insects like mosquitoes.

Global Warming

The global warming is the issue that almost all the world is suffering from. Initially, the global warming is happening when the Earth’s surface and lowest part of the atmosphere warmed up on average by about 0.6°C. Measurements of temperature taken by instruments all over the world, on land and at sea have revealed that during the 20th century. During this period, man-made emissions of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide have increased, largely as a result of the burning of fossil fuels for energy and transportation, and land use changes including deforestation for agriculture. That is to say, global warming is now considered most probably to be due to the increases in greenhouse gas emissions. Finally, we can say that the global warming involves a variety of issues such as ocean acidification. Increased atmospheric CO2 increases the amount of CO2 dissolved in the oceans. Finally, I can say that the global warming is a serious problem. It is affecting the animals such as polar pears, seals, and penguins.

About myself

I am going now to write about the story of my life in more details. The first thing I'd like to talk about my is my sequence in my family , which is number 4; then I will talk a little about my childhood; when I was young I used to live with my uncle and we lived together for 3 years. We moved to AlAin after three years, and, of course, I moved to another school, where I met a lot of friends who were very helpful. About my hobbies, I like to play football, and swimming. I enjoy traveling; I went to London when I was 6 years old, to Australia when I was 15 years old, and to Saudi Arabia three times. To sum up, in my ADMC blog project, Hedley is encouraging us to think critically and analytically about the issue of climate change, and the global warming.
