Ways to reduce the problems of the environment

Summary:
More than twenty countries in the European Union planned to reduce the rate of consumption of carbon dioxide, because it could lead to serious consequences for them, by replacing it with alternative energy. It is a big problem with a higher risk because the renewable sources are expensive. European countries plan that most power plants have to have carbon capture and control technology after 2010; they did not rely on this resolution, but also wanted to eliminate this problem from its roots; they also want the auto factories to replace cars that produce gases, with the ones which are electrical, as fast as they can. The British Environment minister said it would affect the petrol industry.

Main idea:
The co-operation between countries may lead to success and achieve goals.
Decisions should include planning, organizing, controlling.

Comments:
I think that some people will refuse to purchase the products and services that have a better environmental footprint. I think that the Europeans can solve the problem even though it is very difficult and contains many steps and a lot of process. Even countries which aren't actively trying to reduce their impact on the world's environment are likely to find such technology attractive and the EU is now poised to be a world leader in that kind of technology.

Carbon foot print

Yesterday we were talking about carbon footprint in which was this website http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/. In addition I calculated my carbon footprint which was approximately 2.28. Also I took the student standard and the average was nearly 3.87. There are many factors that reached me to this level which were classified as: travel, home, stuff. We can say that the carbon foot print is the total set of GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions caused directly and indirectly by an individual, organization, event or product. The largest contributor to my carbon footprint is traveling. Because of the lack of transportation in Abu Dhabi where I live, I usually travel in two main private cars; one of them is a saloon and the other one is a four wheel drive. so I can’t substitute my cars with buses or trains, because it is impossible because of two reasons; the first is that the bus is too public and I don’t get used to it plus the bus is slower and stops a lot, and the second is that we suffer from the lack of the variety of transportation. About traveling, I’m flying from Abu Dhabi to any country in Europe or sometimes to Australia in the summer with my family. Finally about the food, I’m on strict diet; in this part I can’t improve it because it helps to decrease the footprint. I also have a jog at the Corniche once every day.

Some reviews about the film

There are many reviews about the Inconvenient Truth movie, and most of the audience agreed and the rest didn’t agree. Now I will list roughly two persons, named Eric(http://www.threemoviebuffs.com/review.php?movieID=inconvenienttruth#Eric), and DaveCalhoun(http://www.timeout.com/film/review/8369/An_Inconvenient_Truth.html)

Eric talked about the film saying it wavered from morality to the policy and administration of George Bush, and he said that the pictures didn’t fit, because they could have been taken at different times and mostly took a long time; moreover he admitted that the movie shows a lot of the story and the family tragedy of Al Gore, rather than the global warming, whereas Dave said that this phenomenon is realized and everyone knows about it, so everyone must do something about it. In the whole review he noticed that the speech of Al Gore is very convenient and it made him very handsome, so he agrees with Al Gore, in opposition to Eric who didn’t like the film because of the changes in it; in addition he said that Al Gore talked mostly about global warming which was very easy and clear. To sum up, I liked the film, because if we do nothing, in about 10 years the planet may reach a high risk point and when the point has been reached it will be too late for any action; moreover the earth will have a lot of problems instead of global warming.

In my opinion what Eric has said, that the presenter talked about his family a lot and his sister’s death, I don’t agree with him, but Dave I do because he said that the film is very clear and aimed at one topic which is global warming. Finally, Global Warming is real, and it is caused by human activity. Mankind must begin immediate action to stop and reverse it, because it is certainly a moral issue.
